This is the next in an ongoing series of luncheon meetings for IT professionals who work in our area. We want to help create a sense of "community" among IT professionals who are already here - to share ideas, problems, and learnings - and to help recruit new IT professionals and suppliers to our area.

Our speaker this month is Steve Goldsby. Steve is President/CEO, Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc.

The presentation is The Future of Technology – Predictions 2008. Steve gave a version of this presentation earlier this year at the annual Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, with rave reviews.

This is a very thought provoking, fast-paced look at what technology may bring us over the next few decades. There is a large IT component, with some Biotech and Energy components as well as some stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

According to Steve, "As we are already well into the information age and the U.S. is fully an information economy, the purpose of the presentation is to get folks really thinking about the magnitude of technology impact on our economy, identify future trends and send the message that we need to focus economic development activities around technology and begin to move away from classic economic development activities such as manufacturing."
